How to Prepare for the exchange
Getting ready for Miss Lori’s Children’s Clothing Exchange? Here are some pro tips!
Single No More!
Keep your donated outfits, pajamas, and socks together with safety pins, rubber bands, or Ziploc bags
1. Sort and Organize Donations by Size and Gender
Sorting your donations ahead of time makes things easier for everyone involved. When you arrive at the event, a volunteer will accept your donation and make sure it goes to the right place. Clothes will be organized by size and gender, so it’s a huge help if you already have them sorted before you arrive. This also helps the entire event flow more smoothly and gives everyone a chance to browse efficiently.
2. Keep Matching Outfits Together
One of the most common questions we get is “How do we keep outfits together”? Especially when it comes to pajamas, socks, and cute matching sets. It’s easy for pieces of a set to get lost, but a little prep work can keep those sets together.
Ziploc bags are great for packing matching sets (e.g., pajama tops and bottoms) or outfits. Simply place the entire outfit in one bag so it stays together.
Safety pins are another handy option. Pin matching shirts and pants together to prevent them from being separated by someone browsing through.
Rubber bands work too. Just wrap them around the set to keep them together.
Keeping matching sets together will make things easier for everyone and ensures that no set loses their partner!

3. Plan Ahead for the Upcoming Seasons
This is a seasoned PRO Tip! Something you only learn after attending at least a few events (you’re welcome!)
When preparing your donations or shopping for new items, keep in mind the seasonal aspects of the event. Many participants donate winter clothes in the spring and summer clothes in the fall.
If you’re attending the spring event, don’t just shop for summer clothes! It’s the perfect time to pick up winter clothing that might be getting ignored.
Likewise, at the fall event, take advantage of the summer clothes available. While everyone is shopping for winter clothes, you got yours at the spring event. look through the surplus of summer clothes now.
Planning for the future ensures you’re not left scrambling for those seasonal items when you need them most. Think about the size your LO will be in six months, and you can be sure you’re ready for the next season.
By keeping things organized and planning ahead, you’ll make the exchange experience smoother for yourself and everyone else. Whether you’re bringing clothes to donate or shopping for your little one, these simple preparation tips will help you make the most out of the event!
